Bleaching is a process that lightens teeth which are either naturally yellowish or colored due to aging, tobacco, coffee, tea, tetracycline etc. There are two bleaching methods:
Office Bleaching:
Done in dental clinics by dentists. Gums and soft tissues are isolated with special preventive resin materials. The bleaching gel is put on the tooth surface. A special white light is applied. The procedure is repeated until the aimed goal is reached. The difference is observed at the end of the session.
Home Bleaching:
Custom appliances are prepared for the patient. The patient wears the appliances filled with bleaching gel, preferably during night time or 6 – 8 hours during day. Procedure is usually ended in 1-3 weeks.
Bleaching done by dentist is safe and effective. According to the hygine habits of patients, one or two touch ups are needed. |
